The music program at Immanuel Lutheran Church involves three main groups, the Adult Choir, The Handbell Choir, both of which are directed by David Greatrix, the Director of Parish Music, and several School Choirs which are divided by age levels and are directed by teachers at the school.
Both the Adult choir and the Handbell choir rehearse and participate in services from September through the Sunday of Pentecost, while the school choir rehearses and participates while school is in session.
The Adult Choir
q Made up entirely of volunteers
q Rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
q Sings about 3 times per month
q Sings during the services at all of the major festival services of the church year
o Reformation
o Thanksgiving
o Christmas
o Holy Week and Easter
o Ascension
o Pentecost
q Sings a wide variety of music in a wide variety of styles.
The Handbell Choir
q Made up entirely of volunteers
q Rehearses on Thursday evenings at 8:00 p.m.
q Plays in church about 3 times per month
q Also Participates during services at all of the major festival services of the church year
o Reformation
o Thanksgiving
o Christmas
o Holy Week and Easter
o Ascension
o Pentecost
q Mostly plays music by contemporary composers based on hymn tunes
The School choirs
q Sing in church once a month.
Together, these groups put together a major musical service once during the fall, The Advent Service of Lessons and Carols, and once during the spring.
